Supertip #1: 3 Ways of Choosing a Color Palette
All of have have different "visualizing" abilities. Some of us are born with great visualization, others of us have trained those abilities and some of us have just focused elsewhere and can feel pretty lost when it's time to visualize something.
So, choosing a color palette that pleases you is often a daunting experience especially if you fall into the latter group. But it's a very necessary step if you want your own home to be attractive and comfortable to you. Depending on which of those groups you fall into, hopefully you'll find a solution for choosing your home colors here. There are three different methods to choosing your paint colors presented depending on how much help you'll need:
#1:If you're visually acute and need less help, one of the best ways to start selecting your home's color palette can be by choosing your own favorite color and then adding your next two or three favorite colors. Start with those colors in three shades: dark, mid-range color and a light shade as well. Get color paint chips to match these color choices. Do these colors go together? Do they compliment or coordinate with one another? Do you think that you'll like what you've chosen once it's applied to your walls?
One of the biggest mistakes people often make in doing the process above is choosing colors that are just going to be too bright when painted on walls......so be prepared for that. If that happens to you, just know that you may just need a muted version of the too bright color you choose. So then, stay in the same color range and just look for a slightly duller version of your original.
Color, Color, Color: Pick Your Chips
Picking out the paint chips to match your favorite colors in itself will bring you several steps closer to getting your colors down. You may find yourself loving or hating the initial choices that you've made. So, where do you go from here? How will you know if the colors you've chosen are going to work on your walls? Well, you can go to interior design magazines next looking for color schemes and palettes that appeal to you which should also help.
#2: ACE HARDWARE has a little booklet that I just discovered that can truly help you hone in down on your perfect color palette.
